OpenAI launches ChatGPT iOS app that brings AI Chatbot to mobile devices

OpenAI has announced the release of its official iOS app, bringing its popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, to mobile devices.

“Since launching ChatGPT, we’ve heard from users that they love using ChatGPT on the go. Today, we’re releasing the ChatGPT app for iOS,” the company announced in a statement.

This change comes after the App Store was saturated with unofficial and questionable services.

The new ChatGPT app is free to use, ad-free and supports voice input. However, initially its availability will be limited to users in the United States.

Similar to the desktop, the ChatGPT app allows users to interact with an AI chatbot, allowing them to ask questions without resorting to conventional web searches.

When using the mobile version of ChatGPT, the application synchronizes users’ search history between different devices and gives them access to previously made searches through the web interface.

The app also integrates Whisper, OpenAI’s open-source speech recognition system that enables voice input.

OpenAI announced that ChatGPT Plus subscribers will be able to access GPT-4 features through a new app. In addition, subscribers can enjoy new features at an early stage and faster response times.

Launched in February, the subscription offering costs $20 per month and offers enhanced features, including uninterrupted access to ChatGPT even during peak hours, according to Tech Crunch.

While the rollout of the new app will begin in the United States, OpenAI plans to expand its availability to other countries in the coming weeks.

“We’re starting the rollout in the US and expanding to other countries in the coming weeks. We’re excited to see how you use the app,” the company said.

Notably, the company also hinted that they will soon release an app for Android users.
